* Last Sunday of the month

Choral Evensong

On particular, special Sundays (at any time in the month) evensong can be 'choral' without altering the service. But evensong on the last Sunday of the month is nearly always 'choral'.

Choral Evensong: When an evensong is referred to as 'choral' it means that the congregation do not join in with the responses. The responses are sung by the choir, on behalf of everyone, to a special setting. Everything else about the service remains unchanged.

** Special Occasions

Solemn Evensong
When the service of Evensong is referred to as 'Solemn Evensong', it means that there is an altar party of servers and incense is used. As incense is used during Benediction, the first Sunday of the month is often a 'Solemn Evensong'
